The Diwan participated in the launch of the World Bank’s latest Gulf Economic Update (GEU), titled “The Gulf’s Digital Transformation: A Powerful Engine for Economic Diversification.” The session explored how Gulf countries are reshaping their economic trajectories, with insights on growth trends, diversification strategies, and the expanding role of digital government, data ecosystems, and artificial intelligence across the region.
As part of this engagement, Diwan members had the opportunity to sit alongside World Bank officials, senior economists, and policymakers as they walked through the findings of the report. This offered a valuable platform for our members to engage directly in discussions that influence the Gulf’s economic outlook and policy direction.
This year’s GEU reflects a moment of significant momentum for the region, capturing both current progress and the Gulf’s increasing commitment to digital transformation as a driver of long-term economic resilience.
We extend our appreciation to the moderators and contributors whose insights enriched the session. The event recording and full report are available below.
